Affiliate Marketing "Landing Pages"

The explosion in affiliate marketing has required companies and organizations to create high-traffic "landing-page" sites dedicated to a single purpose - selling a product, or a bundle of products.

For this purpose, it is not practical nor recommended to use a database-driven solution. For this, a simple, static HTML/CSS site is the best option.

Visionsound has been building static HTML sites since 1993. In those times, we had to use hand coding to create our web sites, because so-called WYSIWYG editors were not yet in existence. In order to lay out a site in those times, every HTML trick in the book was used.

Since that time, there have been huge change - notably the development of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and the segregating of actual content from it's display attributes.

General Purpose Multi-Page Sites

Visionsound has built hundreds of HTML/CSS Multi-Page Sites that have been the web site standard since the popularization of the Internet. And in the past, if an organization did not require very much updating, or it's main constituency was not particularly up-to-date with modern browsers and computers - and for cost reasons alone - we would have recommended HTML/CSS as the right path for them.

But times are changing. Costs are coming down for the database-driven web sites formerly available only to the big guys. One of the key drivers of that change, are the modern CMS systems in the Open Source world - the very same systems Visionsound uses for it's CMS Templated solutions.

With the development of the CMS-Starter package we have just released, our recommendation is to use this solution for your static HTML-like sites. We find that we can get the site up faster, saving you time and money, while providing a very logical growth path for your business or organization.

The only exception to this rule would be extremely high-traffic sites or those sites that serve underdeveloped nations or regions. Consistent with Visionsound's proposal that a 90% solution is more affordable than a 100% solution, we strongly recommend the new CMS base for your "static" site (which can grow into a dynamic one - without spending lots of money).
